Monsoon rains swell Rajasthan reservoirs, Kalisingh and Navnera dams release water

Heavy monsoon showers across Rajasthan have raised water levels in several reservoirs, prompting releases of 8,000 cusecs from Kalisingh and 25,000 cusecs from Navnera dam. Meteorologists say rainfall will ease after August 28.
The monsoon season has become active in Rajasthan, delivering widespread rainfall that has increased inflows to major reservoirs across the state. Districts from the arid west to the more fertile east reported significant precipitation, prompting water managers to monitor rising levels closely.
In response to the surge, officials at the Kalisingh and Navnera dams opened spillways, releasing approximately 8,000 cubic feet per second (cusecs) from Kalisingh and 25,000 cusecs from Navnera. The controlled releases are intended to maintain safe reservoir capacities and protect downstream communities from sudden flooding.
Weather agencies forecast a gradual decline in rainfall beginning on August 28, which should ease pressure on the dams. Authorities expect the reduced inflow to allow normal water management operations, while the current releases help sustain water supply for agriculture and drinking needs in the region.
