Heavy monsoon rains have caused widespread flooding from Kashmir to Assam, with Uttarakhand reporting severe damage.

Heavy monsoon rainfall has triggered widespread flooding across northern and eastern India, affecting the regions of Kashmir, Assam and Uttarakhand. In Kashmir, rivers have swollen beyond capacity, inundating villages and disrupting transportation. Assam has seen extensive waterlogging in its low‑lying districts, leading to displacement of residents and damage to crops. Uttarakhand reports severe damage to infrastructure, with several roads and bridges submerged and multiple casualties reported.

Local authorities have deployed emergency response teams and set up relief camps for affected populations. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued warnings for continued heavy rainfall in the coming days, urging residents to stay alert and follow safety guidelines.

The floods have also disrupted power supply in several areas, prompting power companies to restore electricity as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the government is coordinating with state agencies to assess damage and plan rehabilitation efforts.
