Punjab’s Mohali police announced the capture of three individuals linked to an illegal arms network.
Police officials in Mohali, Punjab, disclosed that three suspects suspected of being part of a weapons‑smuggling syndicate were taken into custody on Tuesday. The arrests were made following a week‑long investigation that involved surveillance and coordinated raids on suspected hideouts.
The apprehended individuals are alleged to have facilitated the illegal movement of firearms across state borders, targeting local criminal networks. Authorities said the gang had previously been linked to several unregistered weapon caches discovered in the region.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rajinder Singh confirmed that the operation was conducted without any reported injuries and that forensic teams are now examining the seized items for further leads. The police have also launched a broader probe to identify additional members of the ring.
The successful bust underscores the Punjab police’s intensified focus on curbing illicit arms trade, which has been identified as a growing threat to public safety in the state.
