The Mohali City Council has kicked off a cleanliness campaign by commencing street‑sweeping operations across the city.
Mohali, Punjab – The municipal council of Mohali inaugurated a city‑wide cleanliness drive on Monday, beginning with teams of workers sweeping major thoroughfares. The initiative aims to improve public hygiene and set a precedent for regular maintenance of streets and public spaces.
Council officials said the sweepers will operate in a coordinated schedule, covering residential colonies, market areas and traffic‑heavy zones. The effort is part of the council's broader commitment to keep the city clean ahead of upcoming civic events.
Local residents were encouraged to cooperate by disposing of waste responsibly and avoiding littering. The council plans to monitor progress and expand the program based on community feedback.
The sweeping campaign reflects the city's alignment with national cleanliness missions, reinforcing Mohali's reputation as a well‑maintained urban centre.
Authorities will issue periodic updates on the drive's impact and any additional measures to sustain cleanliness.
