The government has approved construction of a modern transit hub in Rangpo, Sikkim, aimed at enhancing the town’s role as the state’s main entry point.
The state government of Sikkim has given the green light for a state‑of‑the‑art transit hub in the border town of Rangpo. The facility is intended to streamline passenger and freight movement, reinforcing Rangpo’s position as the primary gateway to the state.
Designed to accommodate buses, taxis and cargo vehicles, the hub will feature modern waiting areas, digital information boards and dedicated loading zones. Officials say the upgraded infrastructure will reduce congestion on existing road networks and improve connectivity with neighboring West Bengal.
Implementation will be overseen by the Sikkim Transport Department in partnership with central agencies. While a detailed project schedule has not been disclosed, authorities expect construction to commence within months and aim for completion in the coming years, anticipating a positive impact on tourism, trade and local livelihoods.
