Mob attacks municipal team trying to capture stray pigs in Harida, Madhya Pradesh

A municipal crew sent by the Harida Nagar Palika to trap roaming pigs was met with a hostile crowd on the town's outskirts. Residents, armed with sticks and stones, surrounded the team and began hurling projectiles, forcing the officials to retreat temporarily.
The confrontation escalated when agitators broke the lock of the team's vehicle, freed the captured pigs, and continued to pelt the officials with stones. Two members of the municipal team sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby health centre for treatment.
Police personnel present at the scene attempted to restore order but were also targeted with stones, prompting them to intervene and disperse the mob. The incident highlights growing tensions in small towns over stray animal control measures.
Local authorities have announced a review of the operation protocol and promised stricter security for future interventions involving stray animals.
No further arrests have been reported as of now.
