Mizoram police announced the seizure of 1.457 kilograms of heroin, estimated to be worth over Rs 2 crore, during a coordinated anti‑narcotics operation in the state. The drugs were recovered from a concealed parcel intercepted by the Narcotics Control Bureau in collaboration with local law‑enforcement agencies.
The operation led to the arrest of a suspect identified as a resident of Manipur. He was taken into custody for further interrogation and is being investigated for his role in the trafficking network that supplied the heroin to Mizoram.
Officials highlighted the seizure as a significant blow to drug‑smuggling routes that frequently exploit the porous borders of the Northeast. The authorities reiterated their commitment to intensify surveillance and interdiction efforts across the region.
The case is currently under investigation, and the seized narcotics have been forwarded to the forensic laboratory for detailed analysis before being destroyed in accordance with legal procedures.
