The Mizoram government has formally requested financial assistance from the Union government to fund a Rs 250‑crore tourism circuit project in Aizawl.
The state government of Mizoram has written to the Union Ministry of Tourism seeking central assistance for a proposed tourism circuit in the capital, Aizawl. The project, estimated at Rs 250 crore, aims to develop a network of attractions, improve infrastructure and promote the region as a destination for domestic and international travellers. State officials say the initiative will generate employment, boost local businesses and showcase Mizoram’s cultural and natural heritage. While the state has earmarked a portion of its own budget, it says additional central funding is essential to complete the circuit on schedule. The request comes as the government looks to diversify the state's economy beyond agriculture and to tap into the growing tourism market in Northeast India.
