MITEC has called for resuming border trade in Manipur once internally displaced persons are resettled, linking trade revival to the restoration of normalcy.

The Manipur-based organisation MITEC has urged the authorities to resume border trade only after the proper resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs). The demand underlines that restoring cross-border commerce should be linked to the return of stability in the affected areas.

MITEC's position reflects concerns over the humanitarian situation arising from displacement in the state. The organisation has emphasised that resettling displaced families must remain the priority before economic activities along the border are revived.

The call comes amid ongoing discussions over normalcy and rehabilitation in Manipur. MITEC has stressed that a phased approach — beginning with resettlement and followed by trade resumption — would help rebuild confidence among affected communities.
