The Mission Rakshak initiative has repurposed former Maoist bastions in Kanker district, Chhattisgarh, into recruitment and training hubs for security personnel.
The Ministry of Home Affairs’ Mission Rakshak has officially converted several former Maoist strongholds in Kanker district into recruitment and training hubs for security forces. The initiative, aimed at stabilising former insurgent areas, now offers a structured pathway for local youth to join the armed forces and paramilitary units.\n\nLocal officials say the new centres will provide both training facilities and employment opportunities, helping to address long‑standing economic gaps that once fueled insurgency.\n\nThe conversion is part of a broader strategy to integrate former conflict zones into mainstream development, with the government emphasising that the hubs will also support community outreach and skill‑development programmes.
