The Meghalaya government launched the Ka Jingkyrmen programme aimed at strengthening child protection and preventing offences under the POCSO Act.
Meghalaya’s state administration announced the launch of a new child‑protection scheme called Ka Jingkyrmen. The programme was unveiled in a public briefing attended by officials and child‑welfare stakeholders.
The core objective of Ka Jingkyrmen is to reinforce mechanisms that safeguard children and to deter violations of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. It seeks to create awareness, improve reporting channels and strengthen coordination among law‑enforcement and social‑service agencies.
Authorities said the initiative will be rolled out across districts, with particular focus on schools and community centres, to ensure that preventive measures reach vulnerable groups. The government expects the programme to reduce the incidence of sexual offences against minors and to provide a safer environment for children in the state.
