State authorities warned that the law will be invoked after a VPP MDC representative disrupted interviews for nursing positions in Meghalaya.
Meghalaya's health department announced that it will pursue legal recourse after a member of the VPP (Voice of the People Party) MDC intervened in scheduled interviews for nursing vacancies. The disruption, which took place at a government recruitment centre, halted the selection process and caused inconvenience to candidates awaiting assessment.
Officials said the interference violated established recruitment protocols and undermined the transparent hiring of medical staff essential for the state's health infrastructure. The department has filed a formal complaint and is coordinating with law enforcement to ensure accountability.
The state government reiterated its commitment to uphold the rule of law and protect the integrity of public service examinations. It urged political actors to refrain from meddling in administrative processes, emphasizing that any further attempts will attract strict legal consequences.
No injuries were reported, and the recruitment drive is expected to resume once the matter is resolved through the appropriate legal channels.
