The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma, highlighted the state's Early Childhood Development (ECD) Mission as a strategic investment in the nation’s future.
In a recent address, Meghalaya’s Chief Minister Conrad Sangma underscored the importance of the newly launched Early Childhood Development (ECD) Mission, describing it as a long‑term investment in the state’s future.
The mission aims to provide comprehensive support to children from birth to six years, focusing on nutrition, health, early learning, and caregiver training. By creating a robust foundation during the critical early years, the program seeks to enhance developmental outcomes and reduce future educational disparities.
Sangma emphasized that investing in early childhood is a cost‑effective strategy that yields significant returns in terms of human capital, productivity, and social well-being. He noted that the ECD Mission will be implemented through a network of community‑based centers and mobile outreach units to reach even the most remote villages.
"Our children are our greatest asset," Sangma said. "The ECD Mission is a commitment to nurture and empower the next generation, ensuring that Meghalaya’s children grow up healthy, educated, and ready to contribute to the nation’s progress."
