Meghalaya's state administration officially opened the newly constructed office for the Jirang block on Thursday, marking a step forward in local governance infrastructure. The ceremony was attended by senior district officials and representatives of the state development department, who highlighted the importance of a dedicated administrative hub for the area.

State officials said the new block office will streamline service delivery, while the Mawhati facility aims to improve access to essential public amenities in a region that has long faced infrastructural gaps. The projects are expected to be completed within the next 12‑18 months, subject to standard procedural timelines.
Local leaders welcomed the initiatives, noting that the combined development effort reflects the government's focus on rural upliftment and decentralised administration.
