The Chief Electoral Officer of Meghalaya, Syllad, announced that a total of 53,908 voters belonging to ASDD categories were identified during the State Information Retrieval (SIR) 2026 process.
ASDD categories encompass Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and persons with disabilities, ensuring that these groups are accurately represented in the electoral roll.
The inclusion of over fifty-three thousand electors strengthens the inclusivity of Meghalaya’s democratic process and will be reflected in the updated voter list released later this year.
The Election Commission will incorporate these names into the official roll, and the state’s Election Commission is preparing to conduct voter education drives in the affected constituencies.
