The Meghalaya government has withdrawn the approval for the proposed Rongdangai police outpost, following a decision by the state authorities.

The state government announced the denotification of the proposed police outpost at Rongdangai, located in the eastern part of Meghalaya. The decision was made after reviewing the feasibility and security assessment reports. The outpost was initially approved in 2022 to enhance law‑enforcement presence in the region. However, concerns over land acquisition and local opposition led to a reassessment. Officials said the resources will be redirected to existing police stations and community policing initiatives. The move is expected to streamline security operations without compromising public safety.
