The Meghalaya administration has pledged to curb the recent rise in arson incidents in Shillong, directing the state’s Director General of Police to adopt a proactive stance.
The state government of Meghalaya announced on Thursday that it will take decisive steps to address the growing number of arson attacks reported in Shillong over the past weeks. Officials highlighted that the spate of deliberate fires has raised concerns among residents and business owners alike.
In response, the Home Department instructed the Director General of Police (DGP) to adopt a proactive approach, including intensified patrols, rapid response teams, and closer monitoring of suspicious activities. The DGP was asked to coordinate with local police stations to ensure swift investigation and prevention of further incidents.
