Meghalaya Forest Staff Join Assam, Nagaland Teams for Hoolock Gibbon Conservation Training

Forest officials from Meghalaya joined counterparts from Assam and Nagaland to participate in a training program focused on the conservation of the endangered Hoolock gibbon.
A joint training session on Hoolock gibbon conservation was conducted by the forest departments of Meghalaya, Assam and Nagaland.
The program aimed to strengthen the capacity of forest staff in species identification, monitoring and anti‑poaching techniques.
Hoolock gibbons, the only primate found in India, are listed as endangered and are native to the forests of the Northeast.
Officials said the collaborative effort will enhance protection measures and promote coordinated conservation actions across state borders.
The training is part of a broader initiative to safeguard the region’s fragile wildlife habitats.
