The Meghalaya government has released a scholarship instalment worth Rs 93.7 crore for 96,812 scheduled‑tribe students, according to India Today NE.

Meghalaya's education department announced the release of a scholarship instalment amounting to Rs 93.7 crore. The funds are earmarked for 96,812 students belonging to scheduled tribes across the state. The disbursement is part of the state's ongoing effort to improve higher‑education access for tribal communities.

The scholarship scheme, launched earlier this year, provides financial assistance for tuition, books and other academic expenses. Beneficiaries will receive the amount directly into their bank accounts, as per the state's standard procedure.

State officials said the allocation reflects the government's commitment to inclusive education and aims to boost enrollment and retention rates among tribal students. The release follows similar disbursements made in previous quarters under the same programme.

The education ministry will continue to monitor the scheme's impact and plans further installments to ensure sustained support throughout the academic year.
