Meghalaya Coke Oven Plants Scrutinised Over Unverified Coal Sources

Regulators have begun a probe into several coke oven plants in Meghalaya after reports surfaced that the facilities might be sourcing coal from unverified suppliers. Coke ovens, which convert coal into coke for the steel industry, are subject to strict licensing and environmental regulations. The investigation, launched by the Ministry of Coal, aims to verify the origin of the coal and ensure compliance with national coal procurement norms.
