Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced the launch of the SPARK initiative aimed at equipping Meghalaya’s young population with skills and knowledge to thrive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
Shillong, Meghalaya – Chief Minister Conrad Sangma unveiled the SPARK programme, describing it as a strategic effort to ready the state’s youth for the challenges of a fast‑changing world. The initiative will focus on building digital literacy, vocational skills and entrepreneurial mindsets among students and recent graduates.
According to the CM, SPARK will roll out a series of training modules in partnership with educational institutions and industry experts, ensuring that participants gain practical knowledge aligned with emerging market demands. The programme is slated to commence in the coming weeks, targeting thousands of young people across the state.
State officials indicated that the effort forms part of a broader vision to boost human capital and reduce unemployment in Meghalaya. By equipping the younger generation with relevant competencies, the government hopes to foster inclusive growth and position the state competitively on a national and global stage.
