Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said he and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have agreed to cooperate in restoring peace in Shillong following recent unrest.

In the aftermath, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma held a telephone conversation with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. During the discussion, the two chief ministers agreed to share intelligence, deploy additional security personnel, and coordinate law‑enforcement actions across the border areas. They also pledged to engage community leaders to address underlying tensions that may have fueled the unrest.
