Meghalaya and Assam governments have agreed on coordinated actions to curb further unrest following recent violence in Shillong, while police have arrested several KSU leaders.

State officials from Meghalaya and Assam met in the aftermath of the recent unrest in Shillong and decided to implement joint measures aimed at restoring peace and preventing further incidents. The agreement includes coordinated policing efforts, sharing of intelligence, and joint monitoring of sensitive areas in and around the city. Both governments emphasized the need for swift action to reassure residents and maintain communal harmony.

Police authorities have also taken action against members of the Khasi Students' Union (KSU), arresting several of its leaders in connection with the disturbances. The arrests were carried out under existing law‑and‑order provisions, and the detained individuals are being held for questioning.

The two state administrations have pledged continued cooperation, with regular meetings planned to assess the situation and adjust strategies as needed. Officials urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement as the joint initiative moves forward.
