The Ministry of External Affairs has issued an advisory urging Indian citizens to stay clear of Russian military recruitment drives, labeling the move as hazardous.
New Delhi – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has released an advisory cautioning Indian nationals against participating in recruitment activities conducted by Russian military agencies. The ministry described such recruitment as a "dangerous path" that could expose individuals to legal and security risks.
According to the advisory, the Russian recruitment drive targets Indians living abroad and those traveling to Russia, promising employment and training. MEA warned that joining foreign armed forces without proper clearance may contravene Indian law and could lead to prosecution.
The ministry urged Indian citizens to report any suspicious recruitment attempts to the nearest Indian embassy or consulate. It also advised families to stay vigilant and avoid any promises of quick financial gain linked to foreign military service.
No specific incidents have been reported so far, but the advisory reflects growing concerns over foreign powers attempting to enlist Indian diaspora members for overseas conflicts.
