The Ministry of External Affairs said that 288 Indian nationals remain out of touch, 21 have been rescued and about 200 are seeking assistance in Tibet after severe floods hit Nepal.
New Delhi's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released an update on the humanitarian crisis caused by the recent floods in Nepal. The monsoon‑triggered deluge has swept across several districts, displacing thousands and cutting off communication lines.
According to the MEA, 288 Indian citizens are still uncontactable, while rescue teams have successfully evacuated 21 individuals from affected areas. The ministry is coordinating with Nepalese authorities to locate the missing and provide immediate relief.
Around 200 Indians who fled the flood‑hit zones have taken shelter in the Tibetan region of the Himalayas, where they are awaiting assistance. The Indian embassy in Kathmandu is in constant touch with local officials and has arranged for medical aid, food, and temporary accommodation for those stranded.
The MEA has urged families of the uncontactable persons to register their concerns with the nearest Indian mission and promised to keep the public informed as the situation evolves.
