The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has instructed that meat vendors be barred from operating within a prescribed radius of temples and Ramlila venues during Navratri, and has ordered intensified cleaning, fogging and waste removal at these sites.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) announced that meat stalls will be prohibited from operating in the vicinity of temples and Ramlila venues throughout the nine‑day Navratri celebrations. The directive applies to all temporary and permanent meat vendors within a specified distance from these religious sites.

In addition to the ban, MCD has ordered a series of hygiene measures, including thorough cleaning of temple premises, fogging to control insects, and prompt removal of waste generated by devotees. Dedicated municipal teams will be deployed to carry out these tasks daily during the festival period.

The corporation said the steps are intended to respect religious sentiments, maintain public health, and ensure a clean environment for the large crowds expected at worship and cultural performances. Vendors have been asked to comply with the order, and any violation will attract penalties as per municipal regulations.

MCD officials will monitor compliance through on‑site inspections and coordinate with local police to enforce the ban. The measures are part of a broader effort to manage crowds and sanitation during major religious events in the capital.
