Massive landslide blocks Chamba road as Himachal monsoon kills 98

A large landslide has collapsed a stretch of the Chamba road in Himachal Pradesh, adding to the 99 roads already blocked by relentless monsoon rains that have claimed 98 lives since the season began.
The Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh witnessed a massive landslide on the main road connecting the town to the state capital, causing the road to be completely blocked.
State disaster management officials said the slide was triggered by continuous heavy rainfall that has plagued the region since the monsoon began, adding to a tally of 99 roads already rendered impassable across Himachal.
Rescue teams have been dispatched to the site to assess the damage and clear the debris, while authorities warn commuters to avoid the area until the route is restored. The ongoing monsoon has, so far, resulted in 98 fatalities in the state.
