Manipur's Nagamapal Gets India's First Mechanized Rotary Parking Facility

Local officials inaugurated a mechanized rotary parking structure at Nagamapal, a busy junction in Imphal, Manipur. The facility, the first of its kind in the state, uses automated platforms to stack vehicles vertically, allowing more cars to be parked within a limited footprint.
The project aims to ease chronic parking shortages and reduce traffic congestion in the city centre. Engineers said the system can accommodate several hundred vehicles and is equipped with safety sensors and a digital payment interface.
Authorities expect the new parking hub to set a precedent for similar smart‑infrastructure solutions in other congested urban areas across the region.
