The Manipur government ordered the immediate closure of all educational institutions citing escalating law‑and‑order problems.
The Manipur state government issued an order to close every school, college and other academic institution across the state, citing a surge in law‑and‑order disturbances.
The directive takes effect immediately, with administrators instructed to suspend all classes until authorities deem the situation safe.
Officials said the measure is aimed at protecting students and staff amid recent unrest, and they will reassess the closure as conditions improve. Parents have been urged to keep their children at home.
The shutdown adds to disruptions caused by earlier protests and curfews, and the education department is coordinating with police to monitor developments.
