Manipur Police Confiscate 356g Heroin Stashed in Car Gearbox in Imphal

Manipur police announced the seizure of 356 grams of heroin that had been hidden inside the gearbox of a car in the state capital, Imphal. The narcotics were discovered during a police operation, according to an official statement, and were immediately secured as evidence. Authorities said the find highlights the persistent challenge of drug trafficking in the northeastern region. The confiscated heroin will be forwarded to forensic labs for further analysis, and investigations are underway to trace the source and intended distribution network. This action forms part of the state's broader effort to curb illegal drug activities and protect public safety.

The police have not disclosed further details about the vehicle's owner or the circumstances leading to the stop, citing ongoing investigations. Officials emphasized that such seizures are critical in disrupting supply chains and deterring future attempts to smuggle narcotics through unconventional methods.

Law enforcement agencies in Manipur continue to monitor and intercept drug-related offenses, collaborating with central authorities to strengthen anti‑narcotics operations across the region.
