The Manipur Home Minister, Konthoujam Govindas, visited several villages in the Kamjong district on Tuesday to assess the impact of recent violent incidents that have disrupted local life. During the trip, he met with village leaders, residents and representatives of the state police to discuss immediate relief measures and long‑term security plans.
The minister expressed concern over the rising tensions in the area and pledged that the state government would deploy additional security personnel to ensure stability. He also highlighted the need for community outreach programmes to address underlying grievances that may fuel further unrest.
Local officials reported that the violence, which began last month, has led to property damage and displacement of families. The Home Minister assured that investigations are underway and that affected households would receive compensation and support.
