The northeastern state of Manipur is experiencing a 90‑megawatt power deficit, prompting authorities to enforce rotational power cuts across the region.

Manipur's power grid is currently short of about 90 megawatts, a gap that has forced the state electricity department to announce rotational load‑shedding throughout the region. The deficit was reported early this week, and officials said the shortfall could not be bridged by existing generation capacity.

The imposed cuts will rotate among different districts, aiming to distribute the limited supply evenly and avoid prolonged blackouts in any single area. Residents and commercial establishments have been advised to conserve electricity and adjust operations according to the scheduled outages.

State officials are monitoring the situation closely and are in talks with central agencies to secure additional power, either through emergency imports or by accelerating pending projects. The department has assured the public that the rotational schedule will be reviewed regularly and lifted once the deficit is resolved.
