Imphal, Manipur – The state’s chief minister, Khemchand Singh, formally opened a new mechanised rotary parking facility in the city’s central area on Thursday. The multi‑storey structure is designed to hold up to 112 private and commercial vehicles, aiming to ease chronic parking shortages in the downtown zone.
The facility features automated parking bays that rotate vehicles onto designated slots, reducing the time required for drivers to find a space. Officials said the technology will improve traffic flow and lower congestion on surrounding streets, especially during peak hours.
State authorities highlighted the project as part of a broader urban‑infrastructure push to modernise Imphal’s civic amenities. The parking complex is expected to generate revenue for the municipal corporation and serve as a model for similar developments in other North‑Eastern cities.
