At a national summit in Delhi, the Chief Minister of Manipur introduced a technology‑driven maternity benefit program aimed at improving access and delivery of services for pregnant women in the state.

Manipur's chief minister addressed delegates at a national summit in Delhi, outlining a new maternity benefit scheme that leverages digital platforms for registration, monitoring and disbursement. The program is designed to streamline the delivery of cash assistance, health check‑ups and nutritional support to expectant mothers across the state.

According to the minister, the technology backbone will include a mobile app and an online portal that link beneficiaries directly with health officials, reducing paperwork and delays. Real‑time data analytics are expected to help identify high‑risk pregnancies and allocate resources more efficiently.

The announcement comes as part of Manipur's broader effort to modernise welfare schemes and align with the central government's push for digital governance. Officials said the pilot phase will roll out in select districts later this year, with full statewide coverage planned for 2025.

Stakeholders from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, as well as representatives of NGOs working on maternal health, praised the initiative for its potential to improve outcomes in remote and underserved areas.
