Mandakini River Flood Submerges Chitrakoot, Six Bihar Districts Placed on High Alert

The Mandakini river burst its banks after intense rainfall, flooding the town of Chitrakoot and leaving large parts of the settlement underwater. Local authorities reported that water levels rose rapidly, forcing residents to evacuate to higher ground and disrupting daily activities.

The state disaster management unit has declared a high‑alert status in six districts of Bihar as the floodwaters continue to spread. Rescue teams have been mobilised and relief camps set up to assist those displaced by the rising waters.
