Mahesh Bhatt, the veteran filmmaker, shared his thoughts on the state of Bollywood in the documentary ‘Bollywood Without Make‑Up’. In a candid interview, he highlighted how the industry is constantly under the microscope but often misinterpreted.
The film, which follows Bhatt’s journey through the film world, aims to peel back the glossy veneer that surrounds Indian cinema. By focusing on the everyday challenges faced by filmmakers, it seeks to present a more nuanced picture.
Bhatt remarked, ‘We’re looked at so much, and understood so little,’ underscoring the gap between public perception and the realities of filmmaking. He pointed out that the media’s focus on sensational aspects often overshadows the creative and technical efforts that go into producing a film.
While the documentary has sparked conversations about the authenticity of Bollywood’s portrayal, Bhatt remains hopeful that a deeper understanding will emerge as more stories like this come to light.
