Maharashtra seeks missing 67 citizens after Nepal floods as 262 return home

Following severe floods in Nepal, 262 Indian nationals from Maharashtra have been repatriated, while authorities continue to locate the remaining 67 missing citizens.
Severe monsoon-induced floods have devastated large parts of Nepal, displacing thousands and causing widespread damage to infrastructure. Among the victims are Indian nationals, primarily from the state of Maharashtra, who were travelling or working in the affected regions.
The Maharashtra government has activated a special task force to trace the 67 citizens who remain unaccounted for. Officials are coordinating with Nepalese authorities, local NGOs, and community volunteers to verify identities, locate missing persons, and arrange their safe return.
To date, 262 Maharashtra residents have been brought back to India after being rescued or evacuated by Nepalese relief teams. The state’s Home Department has appealed to families for any information that could help locate the remaining missing individuals and has promised financial and logistical support to the affected families.
