Maharashtra Man Arrested for Cheating Canacona Resident of Rs 42.6 Lakh

A Maharashtra resident was taken into custody by the police in Canacona, Goa, on charges of cheating a local citizen of ₹42.6 lakh. The arrest was made following complaints filed by the victim who claimed that the accused had misappropriated the sum through fraudulent means. Police officials said that the accused was booked under the Indian Penal Code for cheating and that a preliminary investigation is underway. The case is expected to be forwarded to the local court for further proceedings, where the accused may face trial under the relevant sections of the IPC.

The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, alleged that the accused had promised a return of the money after a short period, but failed to do so.
