The Maharashtra health department has introduced a new policy requiring all its staff to complete designated training courses.

The health department of Maharashtra announced a fresh training policy that obliges every employee to enrol in specified courses. The directive, issued by the department’s senior officials, aims to standardise skill levels across the state’s public health workforce.

Under the new rule, participation in the approved modules will be compulsory, and completion will be linked to performance assessments. The department expects the training to enhance service delivery, especially in areas such as disease surveillance, emergency response and primary care.

Implementation will commence next month, with a phased rollout covering all districts. Staff will receive schedules and access to online and classroom sessions, while supervisors will monitor progress to ensure compliance.
