Chief Minister Eknath Shinde presented a detailed plan aimed at relieving chronic traffic congestion and improving infrastructure in the Chakan‑Talegaon industrial corridor of Maharashtra.
Pune, Maharashtra – Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday unveiled a comprehensive roadmap to address the persistent traffic snarls and infrastructure deficits that have hampered the Chakan‑Talegaon industrial belt. The plan outlines immediate measures such as widening key arterial roads, upgrading signal systems, and creating dedicated freight corridors to separate heavy truck movement from commuter traffic.
Shinde emphasized that the initiative will be executed in phases, beginning with the most congested stretches near the Chakan MIDC zone. Funding is expected to come from a mix of state allocations, central government grants, and private‑sector participation under public‑private partnership models.
The roadmap also calls for the development of auxiliary facilities, including new parking complexes, improved drainage, and the expansion of public transport links to reduce reliance on private vehicles. Officials said the project aims to boost productivity for the region's numerous manufacturing units while enhancing road safety for commuters.
State officials indicated that a monitoring committee will track progress and ensure timely completion of each phase. The CM pledged that the measures will be rolled out swiftly to restore smooth movement of goods and people across the industrial corridor.
