The Madhya Pradesh cabinet is set to approve a proposal to break up the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya into three separate universities, with new campuses planned for Bhopal, Jabalpur and Ujjain.

The state cabinet of Madhya Pradesh will meet this week to decide on a restructuring of the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV). Officials said the proposal calls for the existing university to be dissolved and reconstituted as three distinct institutions.

Under the plan, separate universities will be created with main campuses in Bhopal, Jabalpur and Ujjain. Each campus is expected to focus on specific technical and engineering disciplines, aiming to streamline administration and improve academic standards.

State authorities argue that the split will enable more localized governance, better resource allocation and stronger industry linkages in each region. The final decision is pending cabinet approval, after which detailed implementation guidelines will be drafted.
