Bhopal – After nearly two decades, Madhya Pradesh is set to overhaul its passenger transport system with a new bus model. The "Sukham Parivahan Seva" will be inaugurated on 25 September, marking the first major revamp of the state’s bus network in 20 years.
Under the new scheme, private operators will be contracted to run the buses, while the government will provide oversight through real‑time GPS tracking and CCTV surveillance. This technology‑driven approach is intended to improve safety, punctuality and passenger confidence.
The administration has outlined an ambitious rollout plan, aiming to have roughly 1,000 buses operational across the state by March. Officials say the expanded fleet will connect major towns and rural areas, easing commuter congestion and supporting economic activity.
State officials have emphasized that the service will be monitored continuously to ensure compliance with service standards, and that fares will be kept affordable for daily commuters.
