New Delhi, Sept 29 – The Madhya Pradesh state administration has unveiled a scheme that will credit ₹600 to each of the 5.8 million students enrolled in government and aided schools across the state. The amount, earmarked for school uniforms, will be transferred through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries or their guardians.
The initiative, part of the state’s broader effort to reduce dropout rates and ease the financial burden on low‑income families, targets primary and secondary students. Officials said the funds will be disbursed in the upcoming financial quarter after the list of eligible students is verified by the education department.
State Education Minister Shweta Singh emphasized that the uniform subsidy aims to promote regular attendance and ensure that children do not miss school due to lack of appropriate attire. The scheme will be funded from the state’s education budget and is expected to be implemented without any additional paperwork for parents.
