The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a plan to develop a comprehensive air‑connectivity network across the state, targeting an airport every 150 km, an airstrip every 75 km and a helipad every 45 km to link villages and towns.

The state government of Madhya Pradesh said it will roll out a layered air‑transport infrastructure to bring air services closer to remote areas. Under the scheme, a full‑scale airport will be constructed at intervals of roughly 150 kilometres, while smaller airstrips will be set up every 75 kilometres and helipads every 45 kilometres.

The plan is being prepared by the state aviation department in coordination with the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Officials indicated that the network aims to improve connectivity for villages and small towns, boost tourism, facilitate faster movement of goods, and provide quicker emergency medical evacuations.

While detailed project timelines and funding allocations have not been disclosed, the government has emphasized that the initiative will be implemented in phases, prioritising regions with limited road access. The scheme reflects a broader push to modernise transport infrastructure in central India.

Stakeholders, including local business groups and tourism operators, have welcomed the proposal, citing potential economic benefits and better integration with national and international flight corridors.

The announcement was reported by Amar Ujala from Bhopal, underscoring the state's commitment to expanding its aviation footprint.
