Following the deadly poison‑alcohol incident in Sagar, the Madhya Pradesh government announced stricter enforcement against illicit liquor and prohibited weapons, warning officials of legal action if violations recur.

The state government of Madhya Pradesh has issued a fresh directive to intensify action against the manufacture, sale and distribution of illegal liquor and prohibited weapons. The order comes in the wake of the Sagar poisonous‑alcohol tragedy that claimed several lives and sparked public outrage.

Police, excise and other enforcement agencies have been instructed to step up raids, seize contraband, and prosecute offenders under existing laws. Officials are also required to maintain detailed records of inspections and report any lapses immediately.

A stern warning accompanies the crackdown: if a similar incident occurs again, the responsible officers will face criminal cases. The government says the measure aims to prevent further loss of life and curb the circulation of banned arms that often accompany illicit liquor networks.

The announcement underscores the administration’s commitment to public safety and its resolve to hold officials accountable for any negligence in enforcing the liquor and weapons bans.
