The state government announced the seizure of 17 illegal drug laboratories and set a target to make Madhya Pradesh drug‑free by 2029, with the chief minister vowing a crackdown on the entire syndicate.
Madhya Pradesh police disclosed that they have dismantled 17 clandestine drug manufacturing units across the state as part of an intensified anti‑narcotics operation. The raids, carried out by the state’s anti‑drug task force, resulted in the seizure of large quantities of precursor chemicals, finished narcotics and related equipment.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, addressing the media, said the government is committed to rendering the state drug‑free by 2029. He announced a comprehensive strategy that includes not only targeting production labs but also dismantling the distribution networks and financial channels that sustain the drug trade.
The administration plans to expand surveillance, strengthen inter‑agency coordination and launch public awareness campaigns to curb demand. Officials indicated that the 2029 target is ambitious but achievable if the crackdown on the entire syndicate continues with sustained political will and community support.
