By August 30, 2026, Madhya Pradesh has already received more than 70% of its expected annual rainfall, and meteorologists warn that intense rain will persist in the coming days.

The Indian Meteorological Department reported that as of August 30, Madhya Pradesh has recorded over 70% of the rainfall it typically receives over an entire year. The data, compiled from a network of rain gauges across the state, shows a rapid accumulation of precipitation during the monsoon season.

Officials said the current trend suggests that the state will continue to experience heavy to very heavy showers for the next several days. Such sustained rainfall can raise river levels and increase the risk of waterlogging in low‑lying areas.

Authorities in districts most vulnerable to flooding have been urged to monitor water bodies closely and to keep emergency response teams on standby. Residents are advised to stay updated with local weather alerts and to avoid travel in areas prone to flash floods.
