The Madhya Pradesh health department dismissed a doctor and suspended a drug inspector following the death of a newborn in Rewa, and ordered an FIR against the city’s blood centre.
A newborn baby died in a Rewa hospital, prompting the state health authorities to take swift administrative action. The doctor from the obstetrics department was terminated from service, and the drug inspector overseeing pharmaceutical compliance was suspended pending further inquiry.
The health department also directed that a criminal case be filed against the city’s blood centre, issuing orders for an FIR to be registered. Officials said the measures aim to ensure accountability and prevent any lapse in medical standards.
State officials emphasized that a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the infant’s death and to assess any procedural failures within the hospital and associated blood bank.
