Chhindwara police uncovered an inter‑state cannabis smuggling ring, confiscating over 320 kg of the drug and arresting seven suspects, one of whom fled after police spotted an MLA pass on his vehicle.

Chhindwara police in Madhya Pradesh have dismantled an inter‑state cannabis trafficking network, arresting seven individuals during a coordinated raid. The operation, conducted by the district’s crime branch, resulted in the seizure of 320.8 kilograms of cannabis, a pistol, five cartridges, a mobile phone and a substantial amount of cash.

Investigators discovered that one of the arrested had a vehicle displaying a "MLA 602" pass. When officers approached, the suspect attempted to flee, later claiming that his uncle is a legislator.

The seizure underscores the growing challenge of drug smuggling in central India, prompting authorities to intensify surveillance and enforcement actions against organized crime groups.

Police officials said the confiscated narcotics will be handed over to the state’s forensic laboratory for further analysis, while the seized weapons and cash will be processed as evidence in the upcoming trial.

The incident marks a significant success for Madhya Pradesh law‑enforcement agencies in curbing the supply chain of illicit drugs that often traverse state borders.
