The monsoon season in Madhya Pradesh is in its closing stage, with forecasts showing rain persisting until September 21, bringing the state’s total rainfall to 33.1 inches, about 2.5 inches below normal.
The monsoon in Madhya Pradesh has moved into its final stretch, and meteorological agencies project that rainfall will continue across the state until 21 September. This extended spell is expected to provide the remaining moisture needed before the season officially ends.
To date, the state has recorded 33.1 inches of rain, which is roughly 2.5 inches less than the long‑term average for this period. The shortfall is most pronounced in several districts that have lagged behind the expected precipitation levels.
Thirty‑two districts are still classified as “deficit” areas, meaning they have received significantly less rain than required for optimal agricultural sowing. The coming days are therefore critical for farmers in these regions, as insufficient moisture could affect crop germination and yield.
State officials have warned that continued monitoring is essential and have urged local administrations to prepare contingency measures, including supplemental irrigation, to mitigate the impact of the rainfall gap.
